We don’t fear anyone: Sanjiv Suryavanshi on false age fraud claims

After his signing, internet flooded with claims of age fraud. While there have been questions on his age, his father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi took a moment to react and drop a blunt reply to the ongoing rumours. “When he was 8 and half years old, he first appeared for BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don’t fear anyone. He can again undergo age test,” Sajiv told PTI, as quoted by TimesNow.

“My son has worked hard. At the age of 8 years, he excelled at U-16 district trials. I would take him for his cricket coaching to Samastipur and then take him back,” he further added.

It is to be noted that the youngster, Vaibhav Suryavanshi came into limelight during the Youth Test against Australia, played in Chennai. The 13-year-old prodigy smashed 104 off only 62 deliveries and went on to become the youngest centurion in the 170-year-old history of competitive cricket. He then went on to etch another historic feat as he made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 12 years and 284 days in match against Mumbai.

This wasn’t the end for the 13-year-old as the left-handed batter recorded fastest Indianc entury at youth level, which came off just 58 deliveries. He also sits second, after England’s Moeen Ali to complete fastest century in youth level overall. The 13-year-old will be seen donning the pink jersey of Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming edition of IPL, likely to kickstart from March 14.
