With the BCCI naming Virat Kohli in the 16-member squad for the first two Test against England, there have been talks around Bazball coming out on top. However, former Indian cricketer and legend Sunil Gavaskar dropped a bombshell, stating “we have Viratball to counter Bazball”.
“With Virat Kohli, he has a similar amount of hundred and fifties (in Tests). That means he has a good conversion rate. The way he’s been batting, his movement looks good. With the form that he’s in, we have Viratball to counter Bazball,” said legend Sunil Gavaskar while speaking on Star Sports ahead of first Test.
Talking further about Bazball, Gavaskar added that the Three Lions will possess a stiff challenge against the Indian spinners with the home advantage. “It’s an aggressive approach where batters look to attack. They just want to play attacking cricket no matter the situation. It’ll be interesting to see if this approach work against the spinners of India,” he quoted.
Speaking of Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain has scored 1991 runs at an average of 42.36 against England from the 28 Tests. Moreover, in 113 Tests, the star batter has amassed 8848 runs with his highest score of unbeaten 254. He boasts of 29 centuries and 30 half-centuries in the longest format of the game.
