Star South African Kagiso Rabada is confident that the Proteas can beat Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) at Lords starting on June 11. Notably, South Africa have made it into the WTC final for the first time after 2-0 win in a recently ended home Test series against Pakistan. On the other hand, defending champions Australia are set to play their second consecutive WTC final after 3-1 in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

South Africa were the first to qualify for the WTC final after winning the first Test against Pakistan by two wickets in Centurion. Now, the Proteas have whitewashed Pakistan by  2-0 after winning the second Test by 10 wickets in Cape Town and are looking ready to face the Aussies for the Test mace at Lords in June.

We (SA and AUS) play cricket quite similar: Kagiso Rabada

After South Africa’s 10 wicket win in Cape Town, Kagiso Rabada shared his thoughts before facing Australia in the World Test Championship final in June. The fast bowler feels that the Proteas will have to fight hard against Aussies to lift the Test mace. “It’s actually quite some distance away, but a big occasion like the World Test Championship final gets you up for it,” Rabada was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

“South Africa versus Australia has always been an intense rivalry, because we play cricket quite similar. We play hard — and they’re going to come hard at us, and we know that. But we also know how to beat them. One hundred per cent, Test cricket is still alive. It’s our best format that we’ve been playing right now. When you look at South African cricket and all our legends, they’ve all been great Test cricketers,” the South African pacer further said.
