Following a hard-fought 3-2 win against Newcastle United in the last home game of the Premier League season, the Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, made a bold statement about bringing the FA Cup back to Old Trafford. The 54-year-old will be taking Manchester United to Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday, May 25.
In his end-of-season speech at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag thanked the Manchester United fans on behalf of the players, staff, and himself for their brilliant support, but it led to a section of the crowd showering him with jeers. The mixed reaction for the manager came following a tough 2023-24 season for the club in all competitions, struggling to get consistent results during the ongoing campaign.
Erik ten Hag also acknowledged that Manchester United had a difficult season and said, “As you know it wasn’t an easy season, but one thing remained constant and that was the backing of you for the team. But the season is not over yet, first, we travel to Brighton to get three points and then we go to Wembley.”
“And I promise you that those players will give everything to win the cup and bring it to Old Trafford. And we are sure you will be there supporting us. So thank you, you are the best supporters in the world,” he added.
