Chelsea's abysmal start to the Premier League 2023-24 season continued as Ollie Watkins' fine strike saw Aston Villa get a 1-0 win against the 10-man Blues. Mauricio Pochettino has started his reign at Stamford Bridge with just one win, two draws, and three losses in the Premier League so far. The club has become a laughing stock in the league as all the rival fans have brutally trolled their form, and the popular restaurant chain Domino also got on the bandwagon as they absolutely destroyed Chelsea after their latest loss.
In the first half, Chelsea had numerous chances to take the lead at Stamford Bridge, where they had only won one of their previous 10 Premier League games. Axel Disasi was a yard offside when Chelsea thought they had scored just before halftime. Malo Gusto was sent off in the 58th minute, and Aston Villa made their extra man count too, as they scored a superb winning goal with Watkins scoring his first goal of the season.
The result sees Chelsea languishing in 14th place with just five points this season despite their heavy investment into the squad over the summer, which saw them bring in Moises Canceido, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, and Cole Palmer. Dominos gave a savage reply to the Chelsea official account, which updated the Ollie Watkins goal on X, saying they had delivered 852,609 pizzas since the London Club had scored a goal. Domino’s wrote, “We’ve delivered about 852,609 pizzas since Chelsea last scored a goal.”
Chelsea have not scored a Premier League goal in their last three matches while conceding two, and they have scored only five goals in six matches this season. Three of those goals came against newly promoted Luton Town, and they failed to score against the likes of Nottingham Forest, which conceded three to another struggling team, Manchester United. The Mauricio Pochettino-led side will be back in action when they face Brighton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
