Indian sprinter Dutee Chand to appeal against NADA’s verdict
India’s top sprinter Dutee Chand will appeal against the verdict of National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). Notably, Chand was handed a four-year ban on August 17, Thursday, after she was tested positive in out-of-competitions test by the agency. The 26-year-old athlete was found positive for “other anabolic agents/SARMS that falls under World anti-doping agency's prohibited list of "non-specified substances”.
After the decision, Chand decided the order, and her counsel Parth Goswami said that they will appeal against the same. He said, "It is a clear case of unintentional consumption of a banned substance. We were able to establish the source of the substance in the body which is a substantial proof of lack of intent. Substance was never used to gain any sporting advantage. We are in the process of filing an appeal. We are hopeful that we will be able to convince the appeal panel."
