Australia opener Usman Khawaja ended his 321-ball inning after scoring 141 runs off Ollie Robinson’s delivery in the first Test of the Ashes 2023. Despite losing his partners quickly, the left-handed batsman kept his calm and took his to 386 runs by batting for more than a day.  Needless to say, the long inning by the Australian batter frustrated the English bowlers, and they came up with an out-of-the-box idea to send the batter back to the pavilion.

Khawaja walked back to the pavilion off Ollie Robinson’s yorker, and it goes without saying that the much-anticipated wicket brought happiness to the home team. Robinson was simply over the moon after dismissing Khawaja and used abusive language while the batter walked back. The video where Robinson could be heard saying, “F*** off you f***ing p**ck” has gone viral on social media, catering a lot of attention.

Robinson defends his outburst after Khawaja’s dismissal

The 29-year-old English pacer defended his emotional outburst and said he doesn’t care how his actions were perceived. Robinson said, “For me it’s my first home Ashes, and to get the big wicket at the time was special for me. Uzzy played unbelievably well and to get that wicket was massive. We all want that theatre of the game, don’t we? I’m here to provide it.” The bowler added, “It felt like we were never going to get him out. I don’t really care how it was perceived – it’s the Ashes, it’s professional sport, if you can’t handle that what can you handle?”

Shouldering on Khawaja’s century, Australia put on a total of 386 in response to England’s score of 393. By the end of day 3, the home team managed to gain a lead by just seven runs.
