Vinesh Phogat registered a 5-0 against Cuba's Yusneylys Guzmán in the semi-final of the women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling category and secured a medal for India at the Paris Olympics 2024.  Phogat qualified for the semis after a 7-5 win against Okasana Livach in the quarterfinal. The 29-year-old created history by defeating Olympic champion Yui Susaki in their opening bout.

India’s ‘Golden Boy” Neeraj Chopra on Tuesday, August 6 qualified for the finals of men’s javelin throw at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 26-year-old threw a massive 89.34m in his first attempt to breach the qualification mark at the Summer Games. However, his compatriot, Kishore Jena failed to qualify for the finals as he finished ninth in Group A with his best throw of 80.73m.

Kiran Pahal finishes 6th in 400m repechage, fails to qualify for semis

Indian quarter-miler Kiran Pahal finished sixth in heat 1 of the women’s 400m repechage round at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday, August 6. Pahal clocked a timing of 52.59s and failed to make it to the semi-finals of the women’s 400m. With this, Pahal’s campaign came to an end as only the winner advances to the semifinals. 

Avinash Sable becomes first Indian man to qualify in 3000m steeplechase final

On Monday, August 5, India’s Avinash Sable etched his name in history books as he became the first Indian man to qualify for the final of 3000m steeplechase event at the Olympic Games. The Indian athlete secured a spot for himself after finishing fifth in his heat, with a timing of 8:15.43.

Indian men's TT team suffers 0-3 loss against China in RO16

The Indian men's table tennis team of Achanta Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar suffered a 0-3 loss against China in the Round of 16 clash at the Paris Olympics 2024. The doubles pair of Desai-Thakkar suffered a 0-3 loss while Kamal and Thakkar had to settle for 1-3 defeats in their singles clashes.
