Manchester City release statement to condemn offensive chants for Sir Bobby Charlton at Etihad Stadium

During the Premier League game for Manchester City against Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, October 21, some offensive chants were heard in the concourses for Sir Bobby Charlton, the Manchester United great, who had passed away aged 86 on the same day. Shortly afterwards, they released a statement to condemn the happenings at their home ground, the excerpts of which read, “Manchester City FC are extremely disappointed to have learned of reports of offensive chanting from a small number of individuals about Sir Bobby Charlton.”

“The club condemns these chants in the strongest terms and apologises unreservedly to the family and friends of Sir Bobby, and to all those at Manchester United,” the statement further read.

Marc Guiu, 17, becomes youngest debut scorer for Barcelona

The Greek Super League match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos was abandoned after a firecracker hit the player named Juankar from Spain, who collapsed on the edge of the field before being carried off on a stretcher, on Sunday, October 22 at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. Panathinaikos released a statement in which they revealed that Juankar was “taken to hospital for tests,” while stating that the result of the match, which was halted at 1-1 after 50 minutes, will be “decided in the courts.”

Reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen won his 50 th  Grand Prix after finishing on top of the podium at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday. While the Dutch took the top place, Lewis Hamilton finished second followed by Lando Norris.
