The IPL trade window is usually open until one week before the start of the auction every season, hence the window for the IPL 2024 player trade closed on December 12 as the auction is set to happen on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. - The IPL trade window for every season will be open until one week before the auctions. Hence, even after the players' retention list of 10 franchises was announced on November 26, the trade of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians and Cameron Green from MI to Royal Challengers Bangalore happened the very next day (on 27th November).
- Once the auction is done on December 19 in Dubai, the IPL trade window re-opens from 20th December until one month before the start of the IPL season. Hence, once again players can be traded between franchises from December 20, 2023, until February 2024 provided the IPL 2024 starts in March.
- The trade window for the 2025 IPL season starts once again after the conclusion of the IPL 2024 season until one week before the start of 2025 IPL auctions.
