Argentine football icon Lionel Messi will have special coverage during Inter Miami’s all games in Major League Soccer Cup. The league announced a special broadcasting feature where a camera will be trained on Lionel Messi throughout a game. The camera aims to capture every move, shot and celebration of the 2022 FIFA World Cup winning captain. A special and unique feature Messi Cam will provide an up close and personal view of the footballer’s every move in the MLS Cup 2024.
The move will mark the first time when a football game will broadcast entirely on social media with one particular player in focus. However, it isn’t the only incident when a player has been kept in focus during a game. Earlier in a US open game in 2023, the MLS broadcast kept one camera in focus on Lionel Messi’s movements on the pitch. This time, fans will get a personal perspective of the game, Messi’s runs, moves, goals and even celebrations.
What is “Player Spotlight” stream?
Messi will wear a camera on his chest during all games of Inter Miami in the competition. Messi fanatics will be able to follow his movement via a TikTok livestream. The “Player Spotlight” stream, also known as “Messi Cam” by fans, will go live 5 minutes before the beginning of every Inter Miami game. The stream will be available on TikTok channels of both MLS and Inter Miami.
Introducing their ‘Player Spotlight’ stream, Major League Soccer announced, “Watch Messi’s every move in a special TikTok livestream on MLS and @InterMiamiCF as he leads Miami’s historic title quest.” Football fans would be required to sign up to get notified when the stream is live.
