The newly launched T20 league in South Africa SA20 is all set to commence in 2023. The inaugural edition of the SA20 will be played between January 10 and February 11 next year in South Africa. The franchise-based tournament will be a six-team affair, with all teams backed by the IPL franchises.

With the start of the tournament just sixteen days away, the South Africa cricket has revealed the prize purse for the season. The inaugural edition is set to break all barriers as they have announced a record sum of approximately INR 33.5 Crore.

The South Africa based franchise cricket announced total prize of R70 Million, which happens to be the biggest in the nation's history of franchise cricket. Highlighting on the prize money of the league, the SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith in the press released said, “We have worked hard to offer a rewarding and unprecedented incentive in the first season of SA20. This is a first for South Africa cricket, we have never had this type of competitive incentive in our domestic cricket and it is a further of SA20’s ambitions to positively impact South Africa cricket”.

Talking about the tournament, the MI Cape Town will lock horns with the Paarl Royals in the tournament opener on January 10, 2023. The tournament will culminate with the final scheduled to take place on February 11, 2023 in Johannesburg.
