The 2014 Puskas Award winner, Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced his retirement from the sport on Sunday night after AC Milan's final clash of the season against Hellas Verona at the San Siro stadium. While the 41-year-old Swede's announcement came as a surprise, fans are wondering what will happen to the former Manchester United striker's FIFA 23 card.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic hung his boots from professional football after representing European giants like AC Milan, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Juventus since his debut with Swedish side Malmo in 1999. In his 949 appearances for club and country, Zlatan scored 558 goals with 229 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

Following his retirement announcement, Zlatan's presence in the FIFA 23 is uncertain, although EA Sports hasn't provided any update on the same.  Currently in FIFA 23, the Swede, who is part of the FUT Centurions,  can be utilized in online game modes such as Ultimate Team while he can be availed in offline game modes in the AC Milan squad, where he still has an overall above 80.

In the ongoing football season, football greats like  Gareth Bale, Mesut Ozil, and Gonzalo Higuain announced their retirements and their base cards can still be found in the Ultimate Team, which indicates that Zlatan's card will not be dismantled from the game. Recently, EA Sports released an End of an Era SBC for Mesut Ozil, who announced his retirement this year, to celebrate the German world cup winner's legacy.

Similarly, an SBC for Zlatan can be expected from the game developers which will accurately reflect his abilities in FIFA 23. The users can unlock these special cards by undertaking given tasks and their associated conditions.
