The Men's T20 World Cup 2021 is fast approaching. Although the groups were drawn earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the complete schedule of the tournament on Tuesday. The competition is set to happen in two rounds with the first round being the qualifier to the Second "Super 12" round. The Super 12 stage of the marquee event is set to be staged across three venues in UAE- Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Meanwhile, the Round 1 matches are scheduled to happen in Oman.

It is from the West Indies who are the defending champions of the competition. They had famously defeated England in the finals of the tournament in 2016. They also happen to be the only team to have won more than one title. India, Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka have also won a title each in the previous editions.

The ICC event is scheduled to take place from October 17 to November 14 and Australia are set to begin their T20 World Cup campaign with a clash against South Africa on October 23. Despite being the most successful team in ODI World Cup history, Australia haven't yet tasted a win in the shortest format of the game. Their best performance came in 2010 where they reached the finals but lost to their arch-rivals England by 7 wickets in the titular clash to end as the runners-up.

Other than South Africa, Australia will also face England, West Indies and two more teams who will secure qualification after Round 1 of the tournament. Heading into this tournament, the Aussies haven't been in good form either but given that Kangaroos are known for their fighting spirit in sport one can expect an improved show from them in the marquee event.
