Lionel Messi and Argentina surged into the ranks in world football after winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar and recently reports have emerged that La Albiceleste will lock horns with top European sides in 2024. Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal are among the top European nations in line to face the reigning world champions next year.
Argentina, which is technically directed by coach Lionel Scaloni, have received various offers to play international friendlies during the window available in March 2024. Among the offers received, Argentina could potentially face the top European clubs like Portugal, England, Germany, the Netherlands, and France.

Apart from this, the reports also suggested that the CONMEBOL will announce "Copa Interfederaciones”, a friendly cup competition between some CONMEBOL and UEFA sides. The CONMEBOL Council will form an “Interfederations Cup” on November 3 in which South American teams will face their top European rivals on the FIFA dates of March 2024.
This has led to speculation about a potential Messi-Ronaldo reunion as Portugal could face Argentina in the friendlies as well as the new tournament that could come into existence due to an agreement between UEFA and CONMEBOL.
Apart from Argentina's potential clash against Portugal, the Qatar World Cup-winning side could also face England at the iconic Wembley Stadium, where they won La Finalissima against Italy in the summer of 2022. Further, Lionel Messi's side could also lock horns with Germany, recreating their 2014 World Cup final clash, which was won by the DFB Team.
Although the Argentina Football Association has not made any decision yet on the development, the fixtures are expected to be announced on November 9.
