Pakistan cricket team’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is set to marry Shahid Afridi’s daughter, Ansha Afridi, later this month. Due to the Asia Cup 2023, the wedding festivities for the couple who got engaged two years ago were postponed, even though they had their nikkah (Islamic marriage contract) in February 2023.
Amidst his representation of Pakistan in the Asia Cup, reports suggest that Shaheen Shah Afridi will be tying the knot on September 19th, with the Asia Cup ending on September 17th. The walima will follow on September 21st, to be held at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad. The guest list is expected to include close friends and family members, along with prominent cricketers and celebrities.
The 23-year-old pacer had earlier revealed that it was he who thought about marrying Ansha first. “It was my marriage so obviously, it was me who thought about marrying her. Lala and my brother have been friends for a very long time, and our elders know each other too. So, my mother went ahead with the rishta (proposal) and the families agreed,” he said while speaking during an interview.
The date of the wedding has not yet been confirmed by either family. While speaking during an interview with a private news channel in April, Shahid revealed that Shaheen's wedding festivities would begin in September this year. Afridi will first focus on the task on hand at the Asia Cup where he has been prolific as ever, picking seven wickets in three matches including the important wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli against India. He will be back in action when they face India in a Super Four game on Sunday, September 10.
