Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal revealed that he felt bad after dismissing MS Dhoni during the knockout clash against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. Notably, in the 2023 season Yash Dayal faced wrath from fans after Rinku Singh smashed him five consecutive sixes. However, in the 2024 season, Dayal helped his side take down the former champions and pave their way through to the top four of the tournament.
Dayal dismissed MS Dhoni in the do-or-die clash for both sides, which guaranteed RCB their spot in the top four of the season. Contrary to everyone’s expectations, Dhoni was dismissed by Dayal on the second ball of the final over. As a result, RCB registered a win and moved a step closer to what could have been their first IPL cup.

However, a few months down the line, Yash recollected the over and said that he felt bad for dismissing the legendary cricketer possibly for the last time in his IPL career. Notably, with rumours of Dhoni’s retirement doing rounds for the last two years, his participation in the 2025 season is still uncertain. The young pacer also revealed that he saw Dhoni walking off to the dugout with frustration.
"I felt bad after dismissing him. Because I don't know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don't know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief," Yash Dayal told Jatin Sapru in a chat on his YouTube channel.

Yash also went on to recall the advice he received from Virat Kohli in a crunch time when CSK needed 11 runs off four deliveries. Shardul Thakur was on strike at that time. The bowler said, "With 11 runs needed off 4, I was like why I am even looking at the scoreboard. I shouldn't. I should just focus on my bowling. Shardul bhai was on strike. Virat bhai said, 'don't give pace, nor bowl right onto his bat'. I told him right now it's like peanut butter falling from top. Anywhere I want to bowl, I will I have so much confidence."
