On September 30, Saturday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed that “Blaze” and “Tonk” are unanimously chosen as the mascot duo for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be played in India. According to the governing body of world cricket, these two mascots will be seen in action during the quadrennial spectacle, starting with the opening clash between England and New Zealand on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The name of the ODI World Cup 2023 mascots were picked after cricket fans from all over the world participated in the voting for it. Blaze and Tonk will be regular features at all the 10 venues in India during the flagship tournament, engaging and interacting with the fans in attendance.
The female mascot “Blaze” as per the ICC website, is going to make its presence felt by “bowling at rapid pace, leaving batters in sheer awe. She is a fast-bowling sensation due to her pinpoint accuracy, unmatched reflexes, boundless flexibility, and unwavering determination. She is adorned with a belt carrying six power cricket orbs, each meticulously prepared for various game-changing tactics.”
The male mascot “Tonk” is known for its “icy-cool composure, making him a batting champion. His range of shots sizzle and leave the crowds electrified, with finesse and power on display in equal measure. Tonk has an electromagnetic bat and versatile shot repertoire, lighting up the grandest stage,” they further added.
Both Blaze and Tonk will be adding great value to the extravaganza of cricket, the ODI World Cup 2023 from October 5 onwards. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, these mascots will make their final appearance in the summit clash of the tournament on November 19.
