The 2023 Asian Games in Hanghzou are underway, and the Indian shooters have already made their mark, with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar winning the third medal for India in shooting. Tomar won the bronze medal in the men's 10m air rifle event and also etched his name in history by setting the world record in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. Tomar edged out fellow Indian Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil in a shoot-off to assure himself the bronze medal.

Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Tomar was the youngest of the three children in a family of farmers and often went hunting with his father, Veer Bahadur, a landlord. He was introduced to shooting by his cousin Navdeep Singh Rathore and started to receive organized training in 2015 at the Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy in Bhopal.
Tomar was a consistently successful junior shooter, competing in both 50m 3P events as well as 10m air rifle events. He won multiple medals in the junior World Championships, followed by gold medals in the ISSF World Cup’s in 2021 and 2022, before qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics.
