Aniket Verma, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter, announced his arrival to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season in style with his maiden T20 fifty in just the fourth professional appearance in the format at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. The 23-year-old brought up his fifty in 34 balls, to resurrect the SRH innings after they lost their first four wickets cheaply against Delhi Capitals (DC), which included three to Mitchell Starc.

In the first power play stage, the highly accomplished batting lineup of SRH fell away as the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy were dismissed for single digit scores. Starc got the better of Kishan and Reddy, and he also sent Travis Head packing soon after, which signalled the arrival of Aniket Verma to the crease, who smashed four fours and three sixes to get past the fifty mark.

The right-handed batter shared a 77-run stand for the fifth wicket with Heinrich Klaasen, to help SRH recover from a poor start. Following the departure of the South African international from the crease, Aniket Verma kept the momentum of the innings going until he lost his wicket to Kuldeep Yadav after scoring 74 runs in 41 balls with five fours and six maximums in his innings.
