The life of the uncapped Indian cricketer Kumar Kushagra changed overnight after Delhi Capitals signed him for a big-money contract of INR 7.20 crore at the IPL 2024 auction. During the bidding process, the Delhi Capitals had to fend off Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans to bring him to the franchise for a massive deal.

In the year 2023, Kumar Kushagra, who was the part of the Indian squad for the ICC U-19 World Cup three years ago, became the sixth-highest run scorer in the Deodhar Trophy with 227 runs in five innings, striking it at 109.13 per hundred balls, to play a key role in East Zone defeating the South Zone in the final. During a Vijay Hazare Trophy outing for Jharkhand, he scored 67 off 37 against Maharashtra to impress one and all in the cricketing world.
