Logan Van Beek became a household name all over the world after he accomplished the near-impossible feat in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers against West Indies. While chasing 375 against the mighty West Indies, Van Beek walked in to bat at No. 8 and scored a crucial cameo of 28(14) at a strike rate of 200. But that wasn’t even the tip of the iceberg.
The match eventually got tied as the Netherlands failed to take a single on the last ball of the innings. After that, the 32-year-old opened the innings for the Netherlands in the super over. What followed after that was sheer destruction. Logan Van Beek scored 4,6,4,6,6,4 in the six balls and put up an almost unchaseable total of 30 runs in six balls. Then it was a cakewalk for the Dutch as they defended the total quite easily with Van Beek bowling the super over. This win went down into the history books and the destructive finisher was awarded the Player of the Match for his heroics.
Van Beek is relatively new to the ODI scene, making his debut in 2021 against Scotland, he has now played 20 ODIs and has cemented his place in the setup. In the 2014 World T20, Van Beek made his T20I debut for the Netherlands. He made a sluggish start to his career, taking just 2 wickets and scoring just 3 runs in his first six games. However, he made his name known to the globe when he took 3 for 9 in his seventh game as England was humiliated by a score of 45 runs.
