Ro yal Challengers Bengaluru’s net bowler Mahesh Kumar took social media by storm as he was seen replicating Indian ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. In several videos doing rounds on social media, Kumar could be seen delivering the ball with an accurate resemblance to Bumrah. Kumar, who is currently part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp was earlier associated with Gujarat Titans in the 2022 season.
With his talent, the franchise led by Faf du Plessis signed him for the 17th edition of the tournament. Apart from his delivery, Kumar’s run-up is similar to that of Bumrah. Kumar is a right-handed batter with the accuracy to target and hit the leg stump. Kumar’s slow walk, a few low hops, and high-arm release at different angles prove fruitful for him.

Mahesh’s first net session was with the Indian team in 2017, where his unorthodox bowling action and skills garnered the attention of coaches and experts. He worked with former India cricketer and Gujarat Titans’ bowling coach Ashish Nehra and reportedly impressed Jacques Kalli s with his bowling in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
While Kumar has been a part of several IPL net sessions, he is yet to play for any of the franchises in the marquee tournament. However, as his bowling style got him attention on social media, they might land him a spot in any of the top teams across the tournament.
