Indian fast bowler Mohammed  Shami's brother, Mohammad Kaif emulated his cousin in West Bengal's Ranji Trophy 2024 matchup against Uttar Pradesh by picking a four-wicket haul. Thanks to this dominant effort, Kaif helped bundle out a star-studded UP team with top players like Priyam Garg, Nitish Rana and Akshdeep Nath at 60 in 21 overs.

Playing in Kanpur, Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary won the toss and elected to field in bowling-friendly conditions.  Kaif claimed opener  Samarth Singh, who top-scored with 13, as his first wicket before dismissing all-rounder  Saurabh Kumar. The 27-year-old then cleaned up the tail by dismissing India international  Bhuvneshwar Kumar and fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot.

This match against UP is  Mohammad Kaif's second First-Class game as he made his debut against Andhra Pradesh in Bengal's Ranji Trophy 2024 opener in  Visakhapatnam.   Kaif picked up three wickets and dismissed  Prasanth Kumar,  KV Sasikanth and  Nitish Kumar Reddy in the only innings Bengal bowled.
