Puja Tomar is said to be the next big thing in the Indian MMA circle as she continues to win titles. Her recent heroics came at the Matrix Fight Night 12 held on July 1 at the Noida Indoor Stadium where she was on the Main Card and was pitted against Russia’s Anastasia Feofanova.
As the fight went on, Puja also known as ‘The Cyclone’ displayed outstanding defensive skills and was able to keep Anastasia at a distance irrespective of her vast reach. Puja kept kicking at Anastasia's left knee, exhausting her with hard kicks. Puja hit the Russian in the face repeatedly with powerful blows to score points. After a suspenseful four rounds, Anastasia broke her forearm while attempting to block Puja's powerful strikes, with Puja was awarded the victory via TKO with a corner stoppage. With this outstanding win, Puja ensured that she had defended her strawweight which she had sealed in 2022 at MFN 10, defeating American fighter Bi Dieu Nguyen.
Puja Tomar thanked her family for their steadfast support following her successful defence of the Strawweight title. Before saying anything further, “I want to thank my late father”, she said as she dedicated her victory to her late father. “My family's constant support has been the reason for me reaching this point in my MMA career."
