Star Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been among headlines lately and his recent comments on “fittest cricketer in India” has landed him in hot waters. In a recent interaction, Bumrah, who will return to action after India’s T20 World Cup triumph in June 2024, was asked about “who is the fittest cricketer” in the Indian team.
Although the pacer dropped an interesting reply on the same, accepting that the answer however is known to everyone. Speaking during the event, Bumrah said that he knew the answer that everyone was hoping for, but kept fast bowlers say as he said, “I will always promote fast bowlers.”

The 30-year-old did not shy away from taking his name as he said, “I know the answer that you are searching for but I would like to say my name because I am a fast bowler.” “I’ve been playing for a while. Being a fast bowler and playing in this country in the heat takes a lot of requirements. So I’ll always promote fast bowlers and always take their name,” Bumrah added, explaining how fast bowlers need to maintain their fitness.

Furthermore, Bumrah's choice of picking himself above the likes of Virat Kohli, landed him in some hot waters. The fans took to social media, resulting in a war of words. While a section of fan called Bumrah “selfish” for his comments, a few others stood by his side to support his explanation of keeping the pacers above all.

Speaking of the Indian pacer, Bumrah is set to return in the two match Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai after he was named in the 16-member squad for the opening Test.
