On Thursday, May 9, Vidwath Kaverappa had a great start to his IPL career on debut for Punjab Kings, picking up the wickets of Royal Challengers Bengaluru batters Faf du Plessis and Will Jacks. The 25-year-old finished his four-over spell up front, conceding 36 runs for two wickets at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala.

During his first spell in IPL cricket, Vidwath Kaverappa was quite close to picking up the wicket of Virat Kohli, who was dropped by Ashutosh Sharma and Riley Rossouw. Furthermore, Rajat Patidar was also dropped off his bowling by Harshal Patel, but, it was an exceptional performance from him with the ball on debut for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.

Before the aforementioned match, Vidwath Kaverappa had played 13 matches in the T20 format, picking up 23 wickets, while his numbers in List A cricket stood at 38 wickets in 18 matches. The young fast bowler from Karnataka has also taken 80 wickets in just 20 First-Class matches.
