The 2018 World Cup runners up, Croatia defeated Morocco 2-1 in the FIFA World Cup 2022 third place play-off on Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium. Croatia took a single goal lead in the first half and maintained their lead until the referee blew the final whistle.
The third place play-off between Croatia and Morocco was full of action as two goals were scored in the starting 10 minutes into the game. While Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol headed the first goal of the match in the seventh minute, Morocco center-back Achraf Dari responded in a similar fashion and scored an exciting header to equalise the game after just two minutes.
In the 42nd minute, Mislav Orsic scored another goal to give one goal lead to his side. However, Morocco failed to score another equaliser as Croatia claimed third place in the FIFA World Cup 2022. As Croatia won the third place they will be awarded with Rs 22 5 crore as the third-place prize money in the Qatar World Cup.
