In the IPL 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are taking on reigning champions Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 19. While the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK are coming after two back-to-back wins, LSG, on the other hand, lost for the first time to KKR in IPL history.
Earlier in the match, it was the home skipper, KL Rahul who won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. Speaking at the toss, the CSK skipper announced two changes to their Playing XI with Darly Mitchell and Shardul Thakur, both missing out. Moreover, Gaikwad called for Moeen Ali and Deepak Chahar as their replacements. “Two changes. Mo comes in for Mitchell, Deepak comes in for Shardul,” Ruturaj said at toss.
While Deepak Chahar missed the last match, where CSK registered a 20-run win against Mumbai Indians (MI), due to a niggle. On the eve of the LSG vs CSK clash, CSK Head Coach Stephen Fleming confirmed, “He is doing his rehabs well. It was a minor injury nothing to worry about. Shardul Thakur bowled well in the last match against Mumbai so we opted to give time to Chahar to recover well.”
