In the first double-header Saturday of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are hosting Delhi Capitals (DC) in an afternoon match on April 5. While the Axar Patel-led side are one of the teams that are unbeaten in the tournament, CSK are coming off a defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR), which came on Sunday, March 30.
As the two captains walked out for the toss, it was the DC captain, Axar Patel who came out victorious in the toss battle. After winning the toss, DC elected to bat first, hoping to put a competitive total on the board for the hosts to chase. “We are going to bat first. Feels like there’ll be help for the bowlers. Expect it to get slower as the game progresses,” Axar said.
Faf "not fit" for match against CSK; Sameer Rizvi replaces him in DC XI
When enquired of the team combination, the Indian all-rounder replied, “In our team, we have a few players who have captained other franchises and that helps me a lot. Same combination. Faf is not fit for this game, Sameer Rizvi is playing.” While DC was forced to make a change seeing Faf’s fitness, CSK skipper also comfirmed changes in their lineup.
“Conway comes in for Jamie Overton. Mukesh Kumar comes in for Rahul Tripathi,” Gaikwad said on his team combination for the match in Chennai.
