With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 edition now moving to Visakhapatnam, the fourth match will see Delhi Capitals (DC) host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Monday, March 24. However, both the sides will see new players in their leadership role as wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be leading LSG, while all-rounder Axar Patel will be donning the captain’s hat for DC.
As the two captains walked out for the toss, it was Axar Patel who came out on top in the toss battle. After winning the toss, DC elected to field first, putting the Rishabh Pant-led side to put the score on the board. Just prior to the toss, a big news came from the DC camp of KL Rahul’s unavailability.
Why is KL Rahul not playing for DC vs LSG in IPL 2025?
News around the Indian wicketkeeper-batter’s availability has been a talking point since long. Although, KL joined the DC camp, but just prior to the start of the match, it was confirmed that he will not be available for selection. This comes as KL Rahul is expecting his first child with wife and Bollywood actor Athiya Shetty.
Earlier, DC skipper Axar Patel also revealed that KL Rahul may or may not be available due to personal reasons. “Obviously, he joined the team. We don't know yet [if he'll play]. Right now we don't know if he is available or not,” Axar Patel was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
