The reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings after their defeat against Punjab Kings, will once again face them in a reverse fixture of IPL 2024. The Sam Curran-led PBKS are hosting the CSK at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 5. Earlier in the match, the home side won the toss and invited CSK to bat first.
After once again losing the toss, Gaikwad spoke of the team’s strategy coming into this match, seeing only a few games left to confirm a place in the IPL 2024 playoffs. Moreover, he also called in for a few changes, seeing injury concerns in the camp. “We’ve just stuck to our process and doing little things right. We don’t look at the track record of the opposition, we focus on ourselves and see what we can do right,” Gaikwad began.
“This season there have been a lot of injuries, flus and forced changes so we’ve had to tinker with our team. I’d say losing 10 tosses but winning 5 games is a positive. Santner comes in place of Fizz,” he added calling Mitchell Santner in place of Mustafizur Rahman, who has flown to Bangladesh to resume national duties.
Apart from Mustafizur Rahman, Sri Lanka pace sensation, Matheesha Pathirana is also missing the ongoing match due to a niggle after he was forced to sit out in the previous fixture too.
