The 2023 ODI World Cup winners, Australia are taking on India in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday, March 4. While the Men in Blue are still unbeaten in the tournament, having registered three straight wins in the Group A clashes, Australia are coming after a solitary win, which came against England.
Earlier in the match, it was Australia captain Steven Smith who came out on top of the toss battle. After winning the toss, the Aussie batter elected to bat first, eyeing to put a competitive score on the board. On the other hand, India registered their 14th straight toss defeat in ODIs, a streak which is unbeaten since 2023 ODI World Cup.

Cooper Connolly replaces Matt Short; Tanveer Sangha called in for Spencer Johnson in AUS XI
After winning the toss, Smith said, “We'll have a bat. Looks a pretty dry surface, pretty dry square, we'll like to get some runs on the board. The guys had a couple of sessions at the academy, ready to go, should be a good contest. Looks a lot drier, it should take more turn.” When asked of the team combination, the veteran Aussie batter said, “We've got two changes. Cooper Connolly comes in for Short, Tanveer Sangha comes in for Spencer Johnson.”
However, India are coming into this match with the same team after they called in Varun Chakravarthy in place of Harshit Rana in their final group stage match against New Zealand.
