Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been among the most popular names in Indian cricket over the years. MS Dhoni earned the title of Thala while captaining Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains in the Indian Premier League who led CSK to five titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023).
The M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai turns into a sea of yellow every time Dhoni steps onto the field leading CSK at their home ground. He led CSK from the front on many occasions and snatched victories from the opponents from the jaws of defeat.

On his journey with the CSK, the fans gave Dhoni the title of Thala. It is a Tamilian word which means head or a leader. The name Thala itself shows Dhoni’s authority as a leader and a captain.
Dhoni is known to be the kind of leader who brings the best out of his players. He has backed his players through their difficult phases many times. Dhoni is also known for his cool and calm response even to the most intense moment of the match.
MS Dhoni’s international career came to an end when announced his retirement in 2020, having played his last international game during the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final. Talking about his IPL career, Dhoni played his IPL match on May 18, 2024. However, he is yet to announce his retirement from the cash-rich league.
