In match 48 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 , the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are hosting the five-time champions, the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atel Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Both teams are coming into this fixture on the back of a loss in their respective clashes. While LSG lost to table topper, Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets, the MI lost to Delhi Capitals (DC).
At the time of toss, as the two skippers in KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya came out, it was the home side that came out victorious, inviting the visitors to bat first. Soon after his decision to bowl, KL Rahul revealed few changes in the side. One of them was Mayank Yadav’s inclusion in the XI, KL also confirmed that Quinton de Kock misses out.
However, the reason behind Quinton de Kock missing out from the XI is not known, KL said, “We will bowl first. Wicket looks good, want to put their batters under pressure and look to chase. We’ll try to stay as balanced as possible. Need to come out and put up a show. We have had a few good victories. Few changes, Quinton de misses out. Kulkarni is in the team. Mayank is back as well. He bowled really well, he has a huge impact. I have been the physios and medical team. Mayank is eager to go.”
On the other hand, the MI also called in for one change in their Playing XI. For the five-time champions, they recalled Gerald Coetzee in place of Luke Wood. “I think everytime we have backed our playing XI. The injuries have cost us. Crucial players are all secured. It’s a long tournament, we have believed in all our players everytime we have played. Coetzee comes back in for Wood,” Hardik Pandya said.
