The Rohit Sharma-led Team India will kickoff their Test series against South Africa on Tuesday, 26th December at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Notably, the two cricketing nations haven’t competed in a Test match after defeating West Indies in their respective series a few months ago. However, the return of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah among others will aim to etch history as they eye a maiden Test win on South African soil.

As the two nations take on each other in the highly acclaimed Boxing Day Test, Prasidh Krishna was handed his debut cap. One notable change apart from Prasidh Krishna’s inclusion in the XI was Ravichandran Ashwin coming in place of Jadeja. However, Rohit at the toss revealed the change as he confirmed Jadeja had complained of a back spasm early today. “Ashwin is playing in place of Jadeja. Jaddu had a bit of back spasm, so Ashwin comes in and he is a quality spinner to have,” Rohit said at the toss.
BCCI also confirmed the update while announcing the Playing XI. “Mr Ravindra Jadeja complained of upper back spasms on the morning of the match. He was not available for selection for the first #SAvIND Test,” BCCI captioned.
