After handing hosts, Pakistan a horrific 10-wicket defeat at their home in Rawalpindi in the opening Test, Bangladesh is taking on the Men in Green in the second and final Test of the two-match series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. While the opening day of the second Test was washed out without toss, the day 2 began early with the visitors winning the toss and opting to field.
Just at the time of the toss, Bangladesh Cricket Board informed of Shoriful Islam missing the Test with groin injury. "Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam has a groin strain and could not be considered for selection in the second Test against Pakistan which got underway in Rawalpindi today (Saturday). The left-arm pacer had complained of discomfort in the groin area after the first match and subsequent tests confirmed the injury," BCB said in a statement.
"Shoriful underwent an MRI following the first Test and the results show a Grade 1 left adductor strain. Recovery usually takes around 10 days in such cases and he has started his rehab," Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan further mentioned in the statement. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan continued to feature in the XI despite being named in an alleged murder case after the BCB Head confirmed his participation under he is proven guilty.
