On Saturday, March 1, in their third and final Group B clash of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, South Africa missed out on the services of their captain Temba Bavuma, who is currently unwell, and in place of him, Aiden Markram is leading the team against England. Apart from Temba Bavuma, his teammate Tony de Zorzi has also suffered a similar illness, due to which he has also been ruled out of the match, and his replacement is Tristan Stubbs.
After losing the toss, Aiden Markram-led South Africa cricket team will be fielding first against England at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, which is also the last match as captain for Jos Buttler. For the Proteas, this game provides an opportunity to finish in top spot in the Group B, which could help them get a less fancied opponent in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
During the toss time, Jos Buttler also confirmed that Mark Wood isn’t the part of the England cricket team for their clash against South Africa today after sustaining a knee injury in the previous match against Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The 34-year-old will be looking to finish his captaincy tenure in limited-overs cricket on a high with a win over South Africa.
