The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 61 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 12. Notably, both teams are coming into this fixture on the back of a loss in their respective games.
However, with IPL 2024 playoffs race getting intense with each passing day, this turns out to be a crucial match, especially for CSK. While it was RR skipper Sanju Samson, who won the toss and elected to bat first, he also called for a change in the XI. The RR keeper-batter confirmed that Dhruv Jurel, who missed the last game, comes in place of Donovan Ferreira.
“Need to stick to what has worked for us. Need to do our basic processes, just taking care of the controllables. Need to perform as a batsman, results have to go your way to feel happy. Jurel is back,” Sanju Samson said after winning the toss.
On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad also announced a change in their playing XI with Maheesh Theekshana coming in place of Mitchell Santner. “You need to be in good head space and deliver what’s expected. We have the right balance, Rachin and I will open, and Mitchell will bat at number 3. Theekshana comes in for Santner. Need to believe and back yourself. We want to win every game possible, you got to have the right mindset,” Gaikwad said.
