In a big update ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have been handed a massive blow as they will miss the services of England all-rounder Will Jacks. According to recent reports doing rounds, the 24-year-old has pulled out of the upcoming edition.
The young all-rounder who was bought by the Bangalore-based franchise for INR 3.2 Crore at the Player’s Auction was earlier ruled out of the Bangladesh tour after sustaining an injury. Jacks, who made his ODI debut in the recent series against Bangladesh, felt some discomfort in his left thigh during the second ODI.
The ECB spokesperson had confirmed on Jacks injury, questioning his availability for the cash-rich league. As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the franchise in talks with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell, who can be a potential replacement for Will Jacks.
It is to be noted that Bracewell went unsold in December’s Player’s Auction after registering for a base value of INR 1 Crore. The Bangalore based franchise will face five-time champions Mumbai Indians on April 2 in their tournament opener.
