India clinched the first Test in Chattogram on Sunday (18 December). The Men in Blue opted to bat first after winning the toss and put 404 runs on the board. They then bowled out Bangladesh for 150 and declared before adding 258 more to their first innings total. Going into the last day of the match, there was still hope for Bangladesh to pull out a victory from here but failed as the visitors won by 188 runs.

However, there were some injury concerns before the start of the game, not only for the hosts but also for the visitors. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, who sustained a thumb injury in the second ODI of the series was later ruled out of the first Test with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) adding Kuldeep Yadav in the squad with Abhimanyu Easwaran replacing the opener.

The skipper went to India and KL Rahul led the side to victory in the recently finished first Test. On being asked of Rohit Sharma’s availability in the second Test, KL Rahul said that it will be known in a day or two in the post-match press conference. “About Rohit, we may be able to know (his status) in the next day or two, even I am not aware of it,” stand-in skipper KL Rahul said.

KL Rahul also hailed the team’s performance in the first Test and lauded the team as they played as a unit. “Everything stood out. We batted really well, bowled really well. In fielding also, we took most of the catches that came our way. That is the way you win Test matches,” he added.
