Indian batter Shreyas Iyer expressed his delight on winning the fourth title of the year and explained how important it is for him to win. Notably, Iyer recently led Mumbai to a five-wicket win over Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, December 15. This was Iyer’s fourth title of the year after his win in three other tournaments earlier in 2024. Notably, Iyer was a part of the team which won the Ranji Trophy for the 42nd time.

Later, he led the Kolkata Knight Riders to their third Indian Premier League victory. Iyer was also a member of the Irani-Cup winning Mumbai team, which proved to be his third win of the year. Reflecting upon all the wins, Iyer expressed his happiness and said that he couldn’t be “happier to be honest.” The cricketer also opened up on how winning matters to him and said, "I personally feel that it's important for me and also for all the youngsters who have come up.”

Whenever I go out there I want to win each and every game: Shreyas Iyer

The 30-year-old further spoke about how he enters the field with ‘winner’s attitude’ and was quoted by Cricbuzz as saying, “Whenever I go out there I want to win each and every game. It doesn't matter who we play. Winning is something that makes me feel happy. And it is everything for me. So each and every game I play I see to it. I go there, give my 110 percent and leave the rest to God. And it has been working tremendously well for us."

He will give 110% for the team: Shreyas Iyer heaps praises on Ajinkya Rahane

Shreyas Iyer also heaped praise on his team-mate and veteran Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane. He said, "He is that sort of a character who will give 110% for the team. And he stepped up at the right time on any given occasion. He started with number 4 where he knew that there were two openers. So he sacrificed his position and then after that when Surya [Suryakumar Yadav] came in, he was (back as) an opener.”

He added, “He is a fantastic team man and hopefully he carries forward the same momentum in the upcoming games as well. But irrespective, salute to him the way he approached each and every game match by match. I am a firm believer of someone who has a certain type of routine and he is one of them."
