Former Chennai Super Kings batter Suresh Raina revealed the reason behind MS Dhoni's limping after the clash against Mumbai Indians. The joint-five-time winners battled out in a high-octane encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 14, Sunday, where the visitors registered an easy 20-run win over the hosts. After the match, former CSK captain MS Dhoni was seen limping, garnering the attention of pundits and fans alike. While it left Dhoni fanatics concerned, former CSK player and commentator Suresh Raina revealed the reason behind the same.
The 42-year-old underwent knee surgery just after the 2023 season, which saw his side lifting the coveted title for the record-levelling fifth time. While Dhoni recovered in time, his clips of limping have been doing circulations time and again. One such clip made rounds on social media after the clash between Mumbai and Chennai, where Raina could be seen helping a limping Dhoni.
Raina, who is currently a part of one of the commentary panels, revealed the reason behind Dhoni’s limping during the clash between RCB and SRH. Chinna Thala, as he is known, said that Matheesha Pathirana’s yorker hit the former CSK captain during the 20th over and it is why he was limping. He said, “Woh Pathirana ka yorker laga tha use.” Notably, the young Sri Lanka bowler delivered the 20th over of MI’s innings, and during one such delivery, the ball hit Dhoni when the latter was trying to stop it.
