Former India captain MS Dhoni recently appeared on a YouTube podcast and revealed the names of his former Team India colleagues, who he wants to see playing again. Dhoni, who is rendering his services to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, is facing a tough time nowadays for his ineffective batting performances at the marquee T20 event. After his miserable batting show against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 5, Dhoni attracted criticism from avid cricket fans and formers of the game. In CSK’s 25-run loss, Dhoni contributed only 30* runs from his bat after consuming 26 balls.
Amidst Dhoni’s lean patch, his clips with a popular podcaster, Raj Shamani, is going viral. On the show, Shamani asked Dhoni, which players he would like to see playing together from the past. Reacting to the question, the 43-year-old said the most of his teammates but he took the names of Team India legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh.
“Yeah, I would stick to my Indian players, man. Viru pa (Virender Sehwag) opening the innings. So Virupa, Sachin, Dada. Because, you know, the thing is, imagine everyone at their prime and the beauty is when you see them playing, you will feel like there’s nobody else like that. But cricket is such a game that keeps on going up and down. So it becomes very difficult how to pick, but growing up we have all seen these players perform,” said Dhoni on the Raj Shamani Podcast.

Dhoni also recalled Yuvraj’s six maximums against England’s Stuart Broad in an over that came in the T20 World Cup 2007. The former India wicketkeeper-batter also added that the players were match-winners during their time and it was a delight to watch them play.
“You know when Yuvi was hitting six sixes, you’d say you don’t want to watch anyone else. So, the thing is, why I should pick anyone? Why can't I just enjoy everyone? You know, they all contributed for India. You know, they all made sure that we win many tournaments wherever we are playing,” remarked Dhoni.
