Former German footballer Tony Kroos shared a cryptic post reacting to his ninth place finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards. The Real Madrid star announced his retirement from professional football after the end of the 2023-24 season. Replying to a post announcing him as a ninth players in the list of Ballon d'Or this year, Kroos wrote, “Wow. Thanks a lot.”

Tony Kroos replied to comment on a post by Fabrizio Romano which the top 30 player list for 2024 Ballon d’Or. In a comment, Romano asked "What would you change from the Ballon d’Or final 30 rankings announced tonight?” to which Kroos replied with “Where do we start? (with a laughing emoji.” The former German footballer also came in support of his Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr after he finished second in the Ballon d’Or this year.

Tony Kroos is among one of the players from Real Madrid who came in support of Vinicius Jr after the Brazilian midfielder opted to miss the Ballon d’Or award ceremony in France, with Rodri poised to win. Kroos said that there is no importance of such individual awards in football. The former footballer also shared a post on his social media with Vinicius along with the captain, "The best."

“Rodri will win the Ballon d’Or. I’ve never seen the importance of these individual awards in football, they have no place,” Tony Kroos was quoted as saying by Goal.com. Notably, Luka Modric, was the last midfielder to win the Ballon d'Or award.
