With the Women’s Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made an impressive stride towards putting women’s cricket in the right place. For years women in our country have struggled to get the right credit for their efforts and now with the Women’s Premier League in the lines of the Indian Premier League, women cricketers are feeling quite enriched.
Now as per fresh reports, BCCI is all set to make the upcoming Women’s Day on March 8 extra special as all the spectators will get free entry at the Brabourne Stadium for the match between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday. Earlier, BCCI announced that all women spectators and girl spectators will get free entry in order to promote women’s cricketers in India.
The latest announcement was shown on the giant scoreboard on Monday during the match between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Brabourne Stadium. The same was also tweeted by the WPL official Twitter handle. Notably, Mumbai Indians defeated RCB by nine wickets in that match.
Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 155/10 in 18.4 overs in the 1st innings courtesy of brief knocks from Smriti Mandhana (23), Kanika Ahuja (22), and Shreyanka Patil (23). For Mumbai Indians, Hayley Mathews picked three wickets while Saika Ishque and Amelia Kerr picked two wickets each.
In response, Mumbai Indians top-order - Hayley Mathews (77) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (55) remained unbeaten in the game to guide their side home. Mumbai Indians have remained undefeated in the league by winning the first two games.
