Preview
In the ninth match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women will take on Mumbai Indians Women at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The RCB-W suffered their first loss of the WPL season in front of their home fans in the previous match, against a highly impressive DC-W, who scored the highest total of the tournament thus far. Meanwhile, the MI-W didn’t have the best out of outings previously either, losing their first match of the WPL season to the UPW.
Team News
The captain of Mumbai Indians Women, Harmanpreet Kaur, and their star pacer Shabnim Ismail missed their previous match against UP Warriorz due to niggles, which is why their participation in the upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the RCB-W player Ellyse Perry also didn’t play against DC-W in their previous match due to illness, so her involvement in the upcoming match against MI-W isn’t certain either.

Analysis
The captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, Smriti Mandhana, scored a highly impressive fifty in pursuit of a target over 190 against Delhi Capitals Women, but the lack of substantial contributions from other batters, with Ellyse Perry, sidelined due to illness, meant that they fell short at the very end. On the bowling side of things, none of the top performers from the RCB-W managed to put the breaks on the scoring of DC-W, and despite the wickets from Sophie Devine and Nadine de Klerk, they conceded the highest total of the WPL 2024.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians Women, had their captain Harmanpreet Kaur sit out the contest due to a niggle, and it led to the likes of Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia, and Amelia Kerr, scoring important runs for the team against UP Warriorz in their previous match of the WPL 2024. But, Shabnim Ismail, who had sat out due to a niggle, was severely missed by the MI-W, not being able to defend 160 odd runs against the UPW.
