Mumbai Cricket Assoictaion (MCA) on Thursday, February 13 announced Mumbai’s squad for the upcoming semi-final clash against Vidarbha in the prestigious Ranji Trophy 2024-25. After India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and batting all-rounder Shivam Dube returned to the side for the quarter-finals, star Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is the latest to join the domestic cricket side.
Jaiswal’s inclusion comes as a surprise after he missed a place in the 15-member squad for the highly-anticipated ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, set to get underway in Pakistan from February 19. After being snubbed of a place in the 15-man squad, Jaiswal has made himself available for the semi-final fixture, which is scheduled to begin on February 17.

Notably, the Indian opener was initially set to miss the Ranji Trophy knockouts after earning a spot in the provisional squad for the upcoming 50-over tournament. He then went onto make his ODI debut in the first ODI against England, but was benched in the final two games. He was also named as a non-travelling reserve for the ICC major as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named an extra spinner in Varun Chakravarthy.
With Jaiswal now travelling to Dubai if the need arises, he has found himself play for the Mumbai side in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. The 23-year-old previously featured in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy campaign in match against Jammu and Kashmir in January, alongside Rohit Sharma. The Indian youngster failed to perform as the J&K side pulled off a shocking victory.
