Ever since the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was removed as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians franchise, nothing has been going right for the five-time champions with the team’s performance going down along with the talks of internal rift surfacing in the media. On Friday, before their dead-rubber game against KKR, Rohit Sharma was seen chatting with KKR’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and also hinted that this is his last season with Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma, who captained the Mumbai-based franchise from 2013-2023, led the team to five IPL trophies in seven years, thus making a mark as one of the most successful franchises alongside former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. However, before the beginning of the current edition, the 37-year-old was relieved of his captaincy duties to make way for Hardik Pandya, who was traded from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash trade deal.
On the eve of the KKR vs MI clash, Rohit Sharma was seen having a serious conversation with Abhishek Nayar and can be heard as disappointed with the decision to remove him from captainship. The video was initially posted by KKR on their social media but removed the video due to its controversial nature.
However, a fan shared the same video on X, and due to enraging shouts from the Rohit supporters, the conversation wasn’t audible but a few excerpts from the chat can be understood. Rohit said, "Ek ek cheez change ho raha. Wo unke upar hai. Jo bhi hai wo mera ghar hai bhai. Wo temple jo hai na wo maine banwaya hai. (Every single thing is changing. It's on them. Whatever it is, it's my home. I built that temple.)"
In the end, Rohit can be heard saying, “Mujhe kya ye to mera last hai. (I don't care, this is my last.)”

Mumbai Indians, who are already out of the game are slated to clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday in Kolkata. The home side is only a win away from confirming their top-2 finish in the league while the Hardik Pandya-led side will aim to bow out of the tournament with a win in the last two games.
