Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that CSK captain MS Dhoni will be taking medical advice regarding his recurring knee issue which has hindered him throughout IPL 2023. Dhoni and the Yellow Army managed to win their fifth IPL title after defeating the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the final.
But throughout the 2023 IPL season, MS Dhoni has been dealing with a knee issue which has pushed Captain Cool to take a limited role in Chennai’s fifth title run. With the bat, Dhoni only faced 57 balls and scored 107 at an impressive strike of 185.46. But he wasn’t as mobile and quick as his former self and after games was spotted with a knee brace.
So after the tournament, reports surfaced about MS Dhoni will get admitted to the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai for a series of tests on his knee injury. Confirming the possibility of Dhoni taking medical advice, Kasi Viswanathan spoke about the CSK captain’s intentions and f urther expressed that if surgery is required, it would be Dhoni’s call.
While speaking to PTI, Viswanathan said, "Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be taking medical advice for his left knee injury and accordingly decide. If surgery is advised, it can only be ascertained after reports come out, it will be completely his call."
Further in the interview, Kasi Viswanathan was also asked about Dhoni’s future as his retirement will free up a purse of Rs 15 crore for the mini-auction. Reacting to this question the CEO talked about how the franchise isn’t even thinking on these lines and started Dhoni’s future will be his call. Viswanathan said, "Frankly, we are not even thinking on those lines as we haven't reached that stage. It will be completely Dhoni's call. But I can tell you in CSK, we haven't entertained those thoughts."
